Bruce Lansky, “The King of Giggle Poetry,”
visited Roanoke Avenue Elementary School in Riverhead, NY on April 20th,
2009. Here are some of the fun poems they wrote together…
A poem written by Ms. Adla’s class (4th
grade):
I Wish My Dog Wouldn’t
I wish my dog wouldn’t keep me up
at night.
I wish my dog wouldn’t mistake me
for a fire hydrant.
I wish my dog wouldn’t bite the
mailman because I haven’t gotten a letter in a while.
I wish my dog wouldn’t sniff my
butt everyday.
I wish my dog wouldn’t tackle me.
I wish my dog wouldn’t take
garbage out of the garbage can.
I wish my dog wouldn’t step on me
while I’m sleeping.
I wish my dog wouldn’t be scared
of his own shadow.
I wish my dog wouldn’t try to
catch his stubby, little tail.
But I know my dog loves me because
he snuggles with me at bedtime, and we fall asleep together.
