Bruce Lansky, “The King of Giggle Poetry,” visited Ashley Elementary School in New Baltimore, MI on February 23rd – 24th, 2009. Here are some of the fun poems they wrote together…

A poem by Mr. Grammens’s and Ms. Allen’s classes:

Wish List for My Teacher

I wish my teacher wouldn’t give out homework that is due on Monday on Friday.
I wish my teacher would let us share answers during a test.
I wish my teacher would double recess and halve math.
I wish my teacher would let the students teach the class.
I wish my teacher wouldn’t give me 100 “words-of-the-day” that are due the next day.
I wish my teacher would call a fire drill and then forget to bring us back inside.
I wish my teacher would let us go to school on Monday and give us the rest of the week off.
I wish my teacher wouldn’t punch holes in my discipline card.
But I know my teacher likes me when I do something goofy and she laughs along with me—or when she dismisses class as soon as the bell rings.
