Bruce Lansky, “The King of Giggle Poetry,” visited Ashley Elementary School in New Baltimore, MI on February 23rd – 24th, 2009. Here are some of the fun poems they wrote together…

A poem by Mrs. Kammer’s and Mrs. Morisette’s classes:

I Wish My Cat Wouldn’t

I wish my cat wouldn’t sit on my lap and shed fur all over my pants.
I wish my cat wouldn’t bite me when I give her a bath.
I wish my cat wouldn’t lick me and wake me up when I am sleeping.
I wish my cat wouldn’t lap up the milk in my cereal bowl when I am eating breakfast.
I wish my cat wouldn’t hiss every time I throw her in the pool.
I wish my cat wouldn’t scratch me when I pull her tail.
I wish my cat wouldn’t pounce on my feet when I move them under the blanket.
I wish my cat wouldn’t make such a mess when she is eating, because I have to clean it up.
I wish my cat wouldn’t barf on my pants, because then I have to change them.
I wish my cat wouldn’t “water” the rug when the litter box is sitting right next to it.
I wish my cat would go into the woods and get lost so I would never have to change her litter box again.
But I know my cat loves me when she snuggles with me, let’s me pet her soft belly, and purrs when I am feeling sick or tired.
