Bruce Lansky, “The King of Giggle
Poetry,” visited Ashley Elementary School in New Baltimore, MI on February 23rd
– 24th, 2009. Here are some of the fun poems they wrote together…
A poem by
Mrs. Kirchoff’s and Ms. Rossi’s classes:
Rules for My Dog
Don’t lick on my
face.
Don’t mess up the rug.
Don’t bite my neck when
I give you a hug.
Don’t fight with
your brother
‘cause that isn’t nice.
Don’t scratch when you’re near me,
‘cause you’ll give me lice.
Don’t bark in
the evening
when I’m fast asleep.
I don’t want to wake up
when I’m counting sheep.
Don’t
jump up on me when
I walk through the door,
‘cause you’ll scratch my pants
and my legs will get sore.
I wrote down these rules.
I’d hoped they’d be followed.
He thought it was homework.
He chewed it and swallowed.
