Bruce Lansky, “The King of Giggle Poetry,”
visited Ashley Elementary School in New Baltimore, MI on February 23rd
– 24th, 2009. Here are some of the fun poems they wrote together…
A poem by Mrs.
Kirchoff’s and Miss Rossi’s classes:
I Wish My Dog Wouldn’t
I wish my dog wouldn’t lick my face because his breath stinks.
I wish my dog wouldn’t barf on my bed because then I can’t sleep in it.
I wish my dog wouldn’t hang around the house all day. Maybe he could take a
long walk and get some fresh air.
I wish my dog wouldn’t jump on the trampoline when I’m on it, ‘cause he can
jump higher than I can.
I wish my dog wouldn’t bite me when I rub his tummy.
When I throw the ball to play fetch, I wish my dog would return it to me
instead of dropping it in the pond.
I wish my dog didn’t have so many black spots. It would be cool if he had
orange spots, maybe.
I wish my dog wouldn’t bark at night to wake me up.
I wish my dog wouldn’t fight with the neighbor’s dog for no reason.
I wish my dog wouldn’t leave a present for me on the carpet.
But I know my dog loves me when he sits next to me when I’m all alone in the
house
after
school.
