Miss Suzy’s Birthday

by Bruce Lansky

Miss Suzy had a birthday.
It wasn’t any fun.
She couldn’t blow the candles out,
‘cause she was the only one.

She dribbled on the candles.
She dribbled on the cake.
Miss Suzy had to eat it all
and got a tummy ache.

She yelled and screamed all evening.
She cried the whole night through.
She never got another cake
till she was twenty-two.
