Scratch, Scratch, Sniffle

by Mary Jane Mitchell
My family has allergies,
all sorts and kinds of strains.
My dad’s allergic to our cat.
Mom sniffles when it rains.

My brother can’t eat seafood.
He swells right up in lumps.
And sister can’t take nature walks,
or she’ll break out in bumps.

But as for me, it’s pretty odd
what came through our gene pool:
The only thing that makes me sick
is when I am in school.
