Twelfth Round Finalists

The Reluctant Scholar
I go to school everyday,
dragging my feet all the way.
I kick and I holler.
I don’t wanna be a scholar!
I wish I could go home and play.
—JulieAnne Bowen, Grade 10

Airhead Fred!
There once was a boy named Fred,
I told him to use his head.
But on the math test,
Though he tried his best,
He got an F, instead.
—Jessie Crook, Grade 6

A Lizard Called Sprite
There once was a lizard called Sprite
Whose skin was all shiny and bright
When asked: "How’d you do it?"
He said: "I shampoo it,
And blow dry it til it’s just right."
—Eleanor Brierley, Grade 3
